This was the first thing I saw when I stepped off the plane in Hobby airport, Houston. I think it is a good omen!

Just returned from my trip to Houston for my MRI and follow-ups. Here are the top ten Highs and Lows from the trip. Fortunately, there were more highs than lows!

#10 - High: The woman who did my blood draw noticed and understood the context of my Abby Normal tee-shirt.

#9 - High: Dropping in on, and catching up with, all of my former nurses.

#8 - Low: An unusually long MRI, which not only requires I stay perfectly still for close to 90 minutes, but I am not allowed to swallow for the majority of that time either.

#7 - High: Watching my Dad, Mr. Big Deal, flirt shamelessly with the bartender at the hotel lounge. (This is a High purely for the entertainment value.)

#6 - Low: Convincing my Dad that the movie I got him for Father’s Day was not a “chick-flick” (It was Trouble with the Curve, a very nice father/daughter movie, I thought)

#5 - High: Totally nailing my audiology appointment, validating that I still have good hearing. (Since that is the only thing left that I have going for me it is very exciting.)

#4 - High: Being told I am my surgeon’s favorite patient. (Even if it is a lie)

#3 - High: My surgeon scoping my nose and saying this phrase: “Oh, she is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside!” (Most people say that phrase when talking about a person’s spirit or good nature. For me it pertains to the inside of my nose.) Then he insists that his PA and the three Chinese doctors who are shadowing him also take a look at the inside of my nose as well.

#2 - Low: Experiencing a flight delay, then once in the air our plane had to circle until bad weather passed in Denver, but it didn't so we had to land in Pueblo to refuel. Then sit on that runway for 90 minutes before taking off again to go back to Denver. The result was a 2 hour flight that was stretched out to about 5 and ½ hours. Oh, and my phone died so I couldn't call my BF to tell him what was going on.

And the number one High/Low…

#1 - High: For the fourth consecutive year I do not have cancer! Whoo-hoo! Yay me! :)

I recall a happy fun person who use too work across the hallway from me. At the Flatirons mall, I hope and pray life still can be as it was for you then!
