She deserves nothing less

My beautiful cousin, Angela, and I. The chandelier in the background was made by the groom.

My cousin, Angela, was just married, and because of this wedding I can never get married. It isn't her fault, oh no, I blame the groom entirely.

I had met Eric briefly once before, because I live in a different state I don't have the same opportunities to visit with my family. At that meeting, years ago, he seemed nice enough and all that really mattered to me was that my cousin seemed really happy.

Sure enough, couple years later I receive my 'save-the-date' in the mail for the big event. Once I'm back in my home state I begin to put together that my previous description of “nice enough” doesn't quite cover it.

At the wedding I walk into the room for the reception and see these spectacular chandeliers in the center of the room. I ask about them. “Oh, Eric made those,” is the response.

On the tables were the party favors. They were these totally awesome wooden coasters. I ask about them. “Oh, Eric and his father made those,” is the response.

After dinner is served, Eric, his brother, and a friend set up a couple of guitars and some bongo drums and play a song that Eric wrote for my cousin, (I'm not kidding this really happened) and it was completely epic and totally beautiful. In one moment every woman in the room was seething with jealousy and every man was in deep trouble. Throughout the song I heard whispers, “You never even take me out to dinner anymore, let alone write me a song.” Or, “You're learning to play guitar when we get home.”

If this isn't enough, during the dance portion of the evening Eric and his brother broke out into a karaoke rendition of the “Humpty Dance,” complete with dance routine. Again, I'm not making this up. This really happened.

By the time I got home I told my boyfriend he would have to take up ballet, interpretive dance, and perhaps even ice sculpting to match the spectacular events of my cousin's wedding.

All joking aside, it was a great party and I am so glad I was able to be a part of it. Love you Angie and Eric!

I recall a happy fun person who use too work across the hallway from me. At the Flatirons mall, I hope and pray life still can be as it was for you then!
